Adding a Terms and Conditions document to event or membership registration

Your terms protect you and set expectations before anyone pays. On Liveheats, terms and conditions are a registration document with the type Requires acceptance: registrants tick a checkbox to accept them before they can continue.

What to include in your terms

Common inclusions:

  • Release of liability
  • Permission to use photos and video
  • What happens if the event is cancelled or postponed
  • Standards of conduct
  • Payment and refund terms

Note: Your document doesn't require a field for a name, date, or signature. When a Requires acceptance document is added, participants (or if under 18, their parents) are required to check a checkbox to complete event or membership registration. The checkbox reads: "I have read and accept the [Document name], and where the athlete is under 18, I accept as their parent or legal guardian." as shown below.

This is general guidance, not legal advice. Liveheats doesn't take responsibility for the contents of your documents or the consequences of using them. Check with a lawyer licensed in your country.

Common questions

  • Can I have more than one document to accept? Yes. Each Requires acceptance document gets its own checkbox, and registrants must tick all of them to continue.
  • How do I know a registrant accepted? Registration can't be completed without ticking every Requires acceptance checkbox, so every completed entry or membership has accepted.
  • Can registrants physically sign my terms? Not with a Requires acceptance document. Use DocuSeal if you need a signature.
