Streaming your event with Liveheats video studio (for novices)

Liveheats Video studio provides a super easy way to get into streaming. This article explains how to run a stream from a smartphone at your event.

Already streaming your event? Check out this article for how to multi-stream to Liveheats with an existing production to unlock heat replays and auto-clipping

A guide to streaming your event via Smartphone

Step 1 - Organise devices to stream your event:

  • Smartphone with decent optical Zoom (e.g. Pixel Pro, iPhone Pro, Samsung Ultra S24) (See recommendations here). Hint: To save money, you can purchase refurbished smartphones for cheaper prices than new.
  • 5G connection or wifi for the phone, with strong connection at the event site
  • Power-bank to keep the phone charge
  • Tripod with a phone adapter

Optional devices to improve stream:
  • DGI Mic Mini - to connect to phone and place a mic near the event speaker, for audio
  • Starlink Mini - to provide connection if event site has weak 5G or wifi

Step 2 - Set up the stream on Liveheats Video studio

  1. Login to Liveheats as a director, create or find the event and click Video studio in the navigation
  2. Click Set up a stream and select Liveheats video studio

Step 3 - Connect to stream on Smartphone

  1. Download and create an account on Prism Live Mobile app to the smartphone. If your budget allows it, we recommend subscribing to Prism Live premium ($10/month) which removes the Prism Live watermark from the stream
  2. Tap the primary button:
  3. You'll now see a list of destinations to stream to. Scroll down and click Custom RTMP
  4. Open the web browser on the phone and login as a Director on Liveheats, find the event > Video studio and copy the Stream URL:
  5. Paste the URL into Prism Live and repeat with the stream key:
  6. Click Save top right

Step 4 - Set orientation, mic, lens and go live

  1. Before you go live, be sure to keep the phone in landscape and lock the screen orientation
  2. If your phone has an additional optical lens, select the 3x or 5x option for the clearest zoom:
  3. You can also ensure the microphone is on or muted, if you're hoping to capture audio or using the DJI Mic Mini
  4. Set the phone into your tripod, and go live by tapping the yellow button:
  5. Keep the action in frame and follow the athletes using the tripod. The live stream will go live on your public event page, so athletes and spectators can follow live:
