Step-by-step guide to running a Liveheats native stream using your smartphone
Streaming via Liveheats is here!
Live streaming your event through Liveheats is quick to set up and can be done entirely from a smartphone.
Follow the steps below to get up and running.

Simple setup: phone & tripod
Recommended phones with a strong optical zoom:
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
- iPhone Pro (14/15/16 Pro)
- Google Pixel Pro
Audio set up:
- Use the phone’s built-in microphone
- Position yourself near the event speaker system
- Avoid standing directly in wind
Use a tripod with phone mount that allows for smooth panning and stable framing
Install a streaming app - we recommend PRISM Live Studio
We also recommend upgrading to the premium version (recommended for stability and features)

Get your stream key via Liveheats
To connect your stream:
- Go to your Event dashboard in Liveheats
- Open Video Studio
- Generate your RTMP URL & Stream Key
These are required to link PRISM to Liveheats
Here a video to demonstrate your a stream setup in Liveheats and the generation of stream URL & key. We recommend doing this on the phone you'll use for streaming, so you can copy directly within the device.
Connect your stream on PRISM to Liveheats
Open your PRISM Live app and click READY

Select Custom RTMP:

Enter the stream URL (RTMP) and the stream key that you generated in Liveheats, give your stream a name and save:

Rotate your phone to landscape, and hit the yellow Go Live button and start filming the action.

Your stream will automatically appear on your Liveheats public event page for spectators to watch - see below an example for the watch button on desktop:

Production set up
If your event is using a more advanced production with a team, just create a stream and provide your production team with the RTMP details.
Get your stream key via Liveheats
To connect your stream:
- Go to your Event dashboard in Liveheats
- Open Video Studio
- Click Add stream and select Stream to Liveheats
- Send the RTMP url and key to your production team
IMPORTANT: If you are inserting graphics directly into OBS or VMIX, be sure to unselect the Liveheats graphics when creating the stream:

Input the parameters into your production software (ex. OBS)
A. Via OBS:
- Open OBS settings and select the “stream” option.
- In the “service” drop down menu, select “custom option”.

Some tips for a better stream:
- Keep surfers centered in frame
- Pan slowly and smoothly
- Use zoom carefully (avoid excessive digital zoom)
- Film from a slightly elevated position if possible
- Ensure you have a strong internet connection (min 3 bars of 4G/5G or WiFi)
