# Remove or unlink an athlete from your user account

An athlete is linked to your LiveHeats account if you've either:

* registered them for an event
* your email was linked to the athlete's profile by another user or director

You cannot unlink athletes from your own user account. If the athlete has another user linked to it, they can remove your email from it by [editing the athlete profile](https://liveheats.crisp.help/en/article/editing-an-athlete-profile-as-an-athlete-or-spectator-199esy5/). Otherwise, you can follow the steps below.
