# Collecting signed documents during event or membership registration via DocuSeal

Waivers and releases often need a real signature, not just a ticked box. Liveheats partners with [DocuSeal](https://www.docuseal.com/), a provider of legally binding e-signatures, so atheltes, members, or their legal parent or guardian can sign your documents during event registration or membership sign-up.

**Must knows**
* You need a DocuSeal account on the **Pro** plan.
* Documents to sign work the same for events and memberships. Only where you find the settings differs.
* If you only need registrants to read or accept a document, you don't need DocuSeal. See [Terms and conditions in registration](https://help.liveheats.com/en/article/adding-a-terms-and-conditions-document-to-event-or-membership-registration-da61hv/).
* If the registrant is a minor in your jurisdiction, a parent or legal guardian must sign.
* A Single DocuSeal account can be used across multiple Liveheats organisations (e.g if you're part of a federation)

There are two steps required to enable document signing for member and event registration:

1. [Connect your DocuSeal account](#1-2-connect-your-docuseal-account)
2. [Create a document to sign](https://liveheats.crisp.help/en/article/collect-signed-documents-during-event-registration-from-athletes-or-their-legal-guardian-95b29r/?bust=1749300133687#1-how-to-create-a-document-to-be-signed)

If you've already connected your DocuSeal account, the following articles will help guide you through creating your first document:

* [Collect signed documents during membership sign up](https://liveheats.crisp.help/en/article/collect-signed-documents-during-membership-sign-up-from-athletes-or-their-legal-guardian-uslci5/)
* [Collect signed documents during event registration](https://liveheats.crisp.help/en/article/collect-signed-documents-during-event-registration-from-athletes-or-their-legal-guardian-95b29r/)

|| If you do not require signatures, you can use our standard [terms and conditions feature](https://liveheats.crisp.help/en/article/adding-a-terms-and-conditions-document-to-event-or-membership-registration-da61hv), which requires registrants to tick a checkbox agreeing to your terms.
