# Archiving a custom field

Once you've [created a custom field](https://liveheats.crisp.help/en/article/creating-custom-fields-10xsble/), you might like to archive it to replace it with an updated custom field, or if its no longer required.

# How to archive a custom field

1. Navigate to the  **Event** **settings** for event registration or **Series setting** for membership registration
2. Click on the **Registration tab** and scroll down to the  **Custom fields** section
3. Click on the field you'd like to archive to open the dialogue
4. Click the  **Archive** button on the bottom left of the dialogue, and  **confirm**
5. Click  **Update event** or  **Save** to update

*Note: if your organisation is part of a federation, you can not archive custom fields created by other organisations in your federation*
